Management of an enterprise telephony solution whether small or large is done by using simple graphical user interfaces (GUIs) from local on site use to multi-site administration.
Local
Smaller sites don’t usually require much more than user name changes, speed dial editing and minor hunt group changes therefore most can be executed from the operator console. The alternative is a GUI tool either connecting directly to the PBX or anywhere on the LAN.
Network-Wide
Basic GUI tools in single-site mode look and feel exactly the same when administering multiple sites. In most cases they become a module within a “network management console” which control far more than user details, they provide management of several key areas:
• System configuration (hardware and software)
• Corporate Directory access
• Call accounting and cost centre calculations
• Performance monitoring of systems and devices
• Alarm management and pre-emptive fault management.
